What would happen if Harry Potter, as an adult, was in charge of General Electric, one of the biggest corporations? The author argues the problems Harry Potter and his friends face are, rarely, solved by the exclusive use of magic. Instead, leadership skills are needed to sort them out.

Harry Potter lives up to intelligence, planning, determination, creativity, loyalty, trust, friendship and other classic virtues that are what really lead to successful leadership. A best-seller of our time, although it may seem strange, contains all the wisdom that businessmen need to pursue successful careers and important relationships.

Each chapter explores experiences from the Potter world to reveal tips and leadership skills needed to be successful, and gives a five-step process to develop courage: A) Prepare for the challenge. B) Surround yourself with support. C) Engage in positive thinking. D) Focus on what’s at stake. E) Take appropriate action.

But the most important message about this book, at least for me, is the ethical message it gives. You can achieve success with truth, honesty and integrity. It shows how Harry’s lifestyle, and Dumbledore’s, can be used in real life to be a more successful and a better person. The virtues and practices showed by Rowling are one of the most important treasures of the series, and this book tries to explain how to take advantage of them in business and in relationships.

One of my favourite Potter books. To read and reread when you are in a complicated moment of your life, in work, business, family, love or everything when you have to decide if you should go for what is right or what is easy.

  1. I’ve read this book, it’s really good. Theauthor is a big Dumbledore fan, and always puts him as the perfect example of honesty – I really want to see what he has to say on the DH revelations XD . The only thing I din’t entirely like is how he sometimes won’t appreciate what Harry does, or finds faults in small things.
